Novero: If heaven will allow me, I will run for Congressman
BACOLOD CITY -- Former Bacolod Vice Mayor Renecito Novero said that if heaven will allow him to run, he will run anew for Congressman in the Lone District of Bacolod City.
In the last election he also ran for the same position but lost against incumbent Cong. Monico O. Puentevella.
But now, there is a big possibility that they will run as teammates where Cong. Puentevella will run as Mayor in the City of Bacolod against incumbent Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia.
He does not know yet which political party he will run, since in 1998 he ran under the banner of Lakas-NUCD and in 2007 under the Nationalist People's Coalition.
But for now all political parties welcome everybody and everybody welcomes all parties unless the Constitution is amended and constitute a two-party system, he said.
As to the possible team-up of himself and Cong. Puentevella, he said the possibility is not far. He had nothing personal against his former political foe.
He was asked why he did not file a protest when he first lost by 256 votes against former Bacolod Cong. John Orola, Jr. and a thousand votes against incumbent Congressman Puentevella, he said he considers election protest as pointless, impractical and imprudent.
He said that his friend has experienced filing a political protest. He won but only a month before the term of his protested opponent ended.
If others were after for the title, fighting, spending, stretching their patience, agony and worry only for the title, I am not that kind, Novero said.
Novero will possibly run against Land Transportation Office – National Capital Region director Ricardo "Cano" Tan, Atty. Ike Barredo, Atty. John Orola, Jr. and Usec. Anthony Golez.
Novero said that let them run according to their perception. He said that as far as his qualification is concerned, he is somebody who has the legislative eligibility and competence.
However, he said, he still prays for a sign for clarity of mind whether he will pursue his political plans in 2010 elections.
He said that if it's his time to lead as Congressman of Bacolod, which means that "it's also the time of Bacolodnons."
